The One in Which I Won Something and Am Smiling..

You know that scene? When Scarlett Johansson is in line at a check out, and she wins the mini cooler and gets so excited because she had never before won anything, that she screams, jumps up and down, and hugs the random person behind her? (Which of course had to be Bradley Cooper?)
Well, stuff like winning mini coolers at check outs doesn’t happen to me. (Much much less getting to shop/hug/see Bradley Cooper) Didn’t anyway. Until I entered April’s (from Beyond the Small Gate), her giveaway. I won it. I did the happy dance (it’s sad to look at. you don’t wanna see it.)
This morning a package arrived from clear across the country, as well as a lovely Holiday card! I couldn’t have been more thrilled and touched.

Thank again April!
Speaking of blog giveaways, rises up a question I’ve been having for a while.
How do giveaways in the blog world work anyways? Is it an investment into her blog that the blogger makes? Or are they a cooperation between someone selling products and a blogger? How do the big guys do it?
Do any of you have the answers? Similar questions? Do you host blog giveaways on your blog?
Hope you all have/had a lovely Thursday!

Hey that's cool! I think some get free books or what ever from publishers hoping they will write a review. Pioneer Woman had 12 giveaways this Christmas including an ipad and she paid for them all – so she must be doing okay!

I am so glad you won and thanks for the props. =) As far as giveaways go i think some are sponsored and some are just from the kindness of the bloggers heart…. I bought yours while I was in Denver at the airport. ( I went to see my grandpa before he passed) I love giving presents away just because and I have found that blogging gives me a connection that I am missing in my non internet life. and to thank the people who support the people who put up with reading my random posts i decided to give then a little something……I will probably never be sponsored or give away an I pad, but there will be more giveaways it is nice to know what people are thinking when they read you blog.

Yay Larissa! Doing the happy dance with you (and mine ain't so hot either!). What a beautiful package.

I did a giveaway once, but it was on my own, not sponsored. I just wanted to have one – once. I don't want to have to blog about products and reviews all the time.

So, to your answer, I say it can be both or either. 🙂

Very exciting!!! If I were creative and could make something pretty, I would totally do a giveaway- how fun is that?!

p.s. I have no signature dance moves, but my husband Ian has one called “SuperGeek”. It is a sight to behold…

I once won our Local Lions Club's raffle and I couldn't stop grinning for days. Actually, since it's been years and the thought still makes me smile, I think the joy of that unexpected win will last for a long time. Congratulations!

Judy – Very exciting. Made me happy! 😀

Ann – Wow! Even an iPad?! Whoo! That's amazing.

April – Yes, and because you did so makes it even more special. 🙂 But yes, I suppose most of the giveaways are sponsored. Still nice to win something. 😀

Angelia – I see. It can be cool to host one, but like you said, not so nice to have to always be blogging about other's products. Thanks for doing the happy dance with me. 😀

cdnkaro – Hey! No there's an idea! Make something yourself and give it away! Lovely! I like it! .. then of course, I'd have to be creative and know how to make something pretty … problem sighted!
Haha, SuperGeek, I can only imagine….

Michelle – How exciting!! Thank you! I'm sure this will have me smiling for days as well!
